Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Escalates as International Health Emergency
The Bundibugyo strain Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has killed at least 131 people with 513 suspected cases. The WHO declared it a global health emergency and is convening expert meetings; Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries have heightened surveillance. The rapid spread and mortality rate have triggered regional and international preparedness responses.
